At WHEN Mini Hub, we recognize that every child has their own pace and unique adjustment needs. That’s why we offer a one-week program, with the option to extend if necessary. During this period, the child and their guardian visit our space daily, following a specific schedule that gradually evolves.
Our philosophy is based on the importance of a gentle transition into any new environment. With the right support,from both parents and educators,the child can feel safe and comfortable, creating positive associations with the new setting.
Who is it for?
The adjustment program is designed for guardians and families who are using the WHEN Mini Hub’s services for the first time and have children under the age of 3 who have not yet started nursery school.
How does the adjustment process work?
The Mini Hub manager works closely with parents, gathering information about the child and their individual needs. The child and their guardian then begin visiting the space for short periods of time, which are gradually extended, allowing the child to become familiar with the new environment and routine.
On the first day, the parent and child stay in the Mini Hub for about 30 minutes in the space with the educator. On the second day, the same routine is followed, but depending on how the child responds, the parent may briefly step away for 5 minutes, after first informing the child. Each day, a small step is added related to the guardian’s temporary absence, always based on how the child is coping.
The Mini Hub manager closely monitors the adjustment process and adapts the activities to meet each child’s specific needs. This helps build a trusting relationship, both with the child and their parents. The adjustment period concludes when the child feels comfortable with both the separation and their time spent at the WHEN Mini Hub, sometimes even before the end of the first week.
